UAlg Rector takes part in SEA-EU Governance Week at NORD University

The rector of the University of Algarve, Paulo Águas, took part in the Governance Week of the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU), which took place from 28 to 30 May at the University of NORD in Bodø, Norway, bringing together rectors, vice-rectors and other representatives from the nine universities in the alliance.

The team from the University of Algarve also included the vice-rector for Internationalisation and Sustainable Development, Alexandra Teodósio, the pro-rector for the Alliance of European Universities of the Sea, Patrícia Pinto, the lecturer from the Faculty of Economics, João Vidal, the coordinator of the International Relations and Mobility Office (GRIM), Marleni Azevedo, GRIM technician Filipe Lage, the president of the UAlg Academic Association, Rita Tavares, and student Tiago Pinto.

The first day included a session of the Technical Working Group and the Mobility Expert Group, which sought to promote collaboration between the nine universities in the alliance.

In addition, the rectors' meeting discussed strategic priorities, institutional partnerships and future directions for the SEA-EU Alliance. This meeting also emphasised the commitment to promoting innovation and excellence in Higher Education Institutions. UAlg representatives also took part in the meetings of the executive and governance committees and the student council, contributing to the dialogue and decision-making processes required in the Alliance. The participants also had the opportunity to get to know the municipality of Bodøe and explore potential areas of collaboration between SEA-EU and the city's administrative bodies.

The Governance Week was marked by constructive debates, current analysis with a view to strategic planning for the future, and a reaffirmed commitment to collaboration and innovation within the SEA-EU Alliance.
