UAlg delegation visits the University of North Carolina Wilmington
As part of its internationalisation strategy, the University of the Algarve intends to extend cooperation to more North American Higher Education Institutions and, in this way, promote both teaching and research at a global level, as a Portuguese and European university, facilitating the attraction of talent and co-production in the future.
Following the signing in January 2024 in Faro by Chancellor Aswani Voloty of the Global Gateway Declaration on the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda as part of SEA-EU, a general protocol has now been signed between the two universities in North Carolina.
In order to promote innovative educational and scientific projects in common, several visits and meetings were held at the organic units, research centres and services of this American institution (College of Health and Human Services, College of Humanities, Social Sciences & Arts, Watson College of Education, Library Discovery Hall, Center for Marine Sciences).
In addition to the UAlg rector, the delegation also included Alexandra Teodósio, vice-rector for Internationalisation and Sustainable Development, Inês Araújo, director of the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Cristina Veiga-Pires, lecturer at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Jorge Gonçalves, researcher at the Centre for Marine Sciences (CCMAR), and Jorge Carrega, researcher at the Centre for Research in Arts and Communication (CIAC).
