Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff OUT

The Erasmus+ Programme promotes mobility for teaching and non-teaching staff.
Share

Under the Erasmus+ Programme, it is possible to undertake a teaching mobility (STA) in European higher education institutions, provided that an Erasmus+ Bilateral Agreement has been signed between UAlg and the host institution in the respective study-fields. Staff mobility for teaching assignments require a minimum of 8 teaching hours. If combined with a mobility for training, the minimum number of teaching hours is 4.

Teaching and non-teaching staff can also undertake a training mobility with the purpose of getting training, through participation in staff weeks, job-shadowing activities, exchange of best practices, among others. Mobility for training does not require an Erasmus+ Bilateral Agreement between UAlg and the partner institution, and cannot take place in European Union institutions.

Participation in conferences and congresses is not eligible for training assignments.

To apply for training mobility, more information concerning staff weeks can be found at http://staffmobility.eu/

Call for applications

Applications are open all year round and must be sent to the International Relations and Mobility Office (IRO) to the email international@ualg.pt

Application procedures

To undertake a staff mobility (teaching or non-teaching), it is required that all parties (Staff; Faculty/School/Service; Host Institution) agree to the mobility programme, and that the activities to be carried out meet the needs of the sending institution.

Required documentation

Applications for staff mobility, teaching and training assignments, should be sent to the IRO to the email international@ualg.pt, accompanied by the following documents:

  • Copy of Identification Document;
  • Copy of Portuguese NIF (Tax Identification Number);
  • Copy of document issued by the bank, less than 6 months ago, with the following bank details (name of account holder, IBAN and SWIFT);
  • Email/letter of acceptance from host institution with the start and end dates of mobility;
  • Mobility Agreement for Teaching / Training, duly filled out and signed by the three parties;
  • Travel Request Form authorised by the immediate superior
  • Full address and phone number to be included in the Erasmus+ grant contract.

Duration and Funding

Staff mobility has a minimum duration of 2 days and a maximum duration of 2 months.

Successful applications will receive funding consisting of a travel allowance (variable according to the country of destination) and a daily allowance. The International Relations Office shall provide a daily allowance for 5 days, maximum, even though the actual duration may be longer. The grant amount (daily allowance plus travel allowance) is usually updated on an annual basis by the Erasmus+ National Agency.

Green travel

Green travel contributes to carbon neutrality by promoting the use of more sustainable means of transportation: train, bus, carpooling and ship. A journey is considered green if most of the roundtrip is carried out using the sustainable means mentioned above. Green travel qualifies for a top-up payment which varies according to the distance between the home and host institutions.

To take advantage of this benefit, participants must inform the IRO before signing the grant contract, so that the amount can be added to the grant to be received. To do this, they are asked to sign a Declaration of Honour and hand in the travel tickets (e.g. bus, train, ship, etc.) after the mobility.
