The Interdisciplinary Science Rankings  is the first study of its kind to assess the contribution and commitment of universities to interdisciplinary science. It includes 11 performance indicators calibrated to assess institutions in three key areas, each of which represents a stage in the life cycle of research projects: funding, processes (facilities, administrative support and promotion) and outcomes (quantity and quality of research and reputation) of the institution.

The ranking covers 749 higher education institutions from 96 countries, including six Portuguese institutions.
