Conditions of access
The admission requirements for this study cycle are established in Decree-Law no. 9-A/2025 of 14 February:
Proficiency in oral and written Portuguese, as well as mastery of the essential rules of logical and critical reasoning (Article 17(1) of Decree-Law no. 9-A/2025), to be demonstrated through an examination conducted during the application process.
Possession of a higher education degree (Decree-Law no. 74/2006) and the completion of 120 ECTS credits in the scientific area of Mathematics, either within that qualification or in other higher education study cycles.
Applicants holding a higher education degree (Decree-Law no. 74/2006) who have obtained at least 75% of the credits in the scientific area of Mathematics are also eligible to apply.
Enrollment in course units related to specific didactics and introduction to professional practice, including supervised teaching practice, may take place simultaneously with the completion of the missing credits. The decision regarding which course units, among those listed in points (a), (b), and (c) of Article 15(1), must be undertaken to obtain the required credits for the award of the master’s degree, rests with the legally competent governing body of the higher education institution.
Criteria for selection of the candidates
The ranking of applicants will be conducted in accordance with Decree-Law 9-A/2025:
Applicants holding a degree in Mathematics with 120 ECTS credits in the scientific area of Mathematics.
Applicants holding a degree in Mathematics without 120 ECTS in the scientific area of Mathematics, but who have obtained the remaining ECTS in Mathematics through other qualifications.
Applicants holding a different degree, with 120 ECTS credits in the scientific area of Mathematics obtained through various qualifications.
Applicants holding a degree with at least 90 ECTS credits in the scientific area of Mathematics.
Necessary documentation
Certificate of Qualifications, proving the possession of a bachelor’s degree, including the breakdown of grades obtained in each course unit.
Copy of ID card or Citizen Card (BI/CC).
Curriculum Vitae, including personal, academic, and professional information.
Proof of payment of the registration fee.
