Number of slots for 2026/2027: 20  

 

1st phase: 20 vacancies, according to the following distribution:


    - 7 vacancies for final year students from Portugal and EU Member States (i.e. not covered by International Student Status)
    - 3 vacancies for international candidates from outside the EU (i.e. covered by International Student Status)
   - 10 vacancies for candidates from Portugal and EU Member States (i.e. not covered by International Student Status)

 

 

Conditions of access

Admission Conditions for Candidates:
a)    Holders of a bachelor's degree or the legal equivalent in the fields of Marine Sciences and Oceanography, Earth Sciences  or Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Physics, Meteorology, Engineering and related areas.
b)    Holders of a foreign academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies (bachelor’s or honors degree), organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process by a State joining to this Process.
c)    Holders of a foreign academic degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of the bachelor's degree (1st cycle of studies) by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology.
d)    In duly justified cases and under the acceptance by the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, candidates who present an academic, scientific, or professional curriculum that attests the capability to carry out the MSc in Marine and Coastal Systems. The acceptance of a candidate based on this criterion does not confer to the candidate the equivalence or formal recognition of any academic degree. 
e)    English language proficiency of at least the B2 level (CEFR).

Criteria for selection of the candidates

Ranking criteria for applications:
1.    Suitability of previous academic qualification
2.    Final classification of academic qualification
3.    Academic, scientific and professional curriculum
4.    Motivation and global profile
5.    An online interview may be required to clarify academic and professional information. 

Necessary documentation

Mandatory application documents:
1. Curriculum Vitae in English, with detailed information on personal, academic and professional aspects. 
2. Diploma or transcript of records, with grades obtained in individual curricular units and final classification. 
3. Motivation letter for enrolling in the MSc in Marine and Coastal Studies (in English).
4. Personal identification document (citizen card, passport or equivalent).
