About the CWTS Leiden ranking:
The CWTS Leiden 2024 ranking includes universities that published at least 800 scientific or review articles in the period 2019-2022 in international scientific journals, excluding books, conference proceedings and publications in non-indexed journals.
For a publication to be eligible for this ranking, it must be written in English, have one or more authors (anonymous publications are not accepted), not have been rectified and be published in a leading journal.
The publications on which the Leiden Ranking is based represent a subset of the publications in the Science Citation Index Expanded, the Social Sciences Citation Index and the Arts & Humanities Citation Index.
These criteria exclude around a sixth of Web of Science publications and aim to ensure that a relatively homogeneous set of publications is used for a better international comparison of universities.
