Conditions of access
1. Holders of a bachelor's degree or legal equivalent in a Postgraduate Course in the scientific area or in a related area for applicants who are nationals of a Member State of the European Union
2. Holders of a foreign higher academic degree in a scientific area related to the Postgraduate Course, conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State that adheres to this Process
3. Holders of a foreign higher academic degree in a scientific area related to the Postgraduate Course, which is recognized as satisfying the objectives of a bachelor’s degree by the Scientific-Technical Board of the School of Education and Communication of the University of Algarve
4. Holders of an academic, scientific, or professional curriculum vitae that is recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the Scientific-Technical Board of the School of Education and Communication of the University of Algarve
The recognition referred to in items 2 to 4 above only has the effect of granting access to Postgraduate studies and does not confer upon its holder the equivalence to a bachelor's degree or the recognition of that degree.
Criteria for selection of the candidates
- Obtaining a first cycle degree in related areas
- Final Graduation marks
- Professional experience in the area of expertise
- Mastering of the Portuguese language
During the evaluation and seriation period the candidate may be called for an interview with the Postgraduate Directorate. The interview will serve to know in detail the candidate's academic profile, professional experience, skills, personal characteristics, and motivation
Necessary documentation

- Certificate of completion of the 1st cycle course (bachelor's degree)
- Certificate proving the attribution of equivalence/recognition of qualifications, in the case of foreign qualifications
- Certificate issued by a recognised body attesting to a level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in Portuguese, or alternatively, a declaration of honour from the applicant attesting to a knowledge and independent command of the Portuguese language equivalent, at least, to level C1 of the CEFR, for applicants whose mother tongue is not Portuguese
- Certificate issued by a recognised body attesting to a level B2/C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in the second language of the application, or alternatively, any other proof or a declaration of honour from the applicant attesting to a knowledge and independent command of the second language
- Curriculum Vitae
- Photocopy of ID document (ID card/citizen card or passport)
- Photocopy of tax identification number
- Payment of the application fee
