Conditions of access
Applicants to the Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering must meet one of the following conditions:
a) Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a legally equivalent qualification;
b) Hold a higher education degree in Civil Engineering, obtained following a first cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this Process;
c) Hold of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized by the Technical-Scientific Council (CTC) of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia (ISE), as meeting the objectives of the Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field;
d) Possess an academic, scientific, or professional curriculum, that is recognized by the Technical-Scientific Council of the Instituto Superior de Engenharia, as demonstrating the ability to undertake this cycle of studies.
The recognition referred to in the preceding paragraphs, only grants access to the Master’s program and does not, in itself, confer equivalence or formal recognition of the Bachelor’s degree.
Criteria for selection of the candidates
Applicants for the course are selected by the scientific committee, taking into account the following criteria:
a) Academic curriculum;
b) Scientific curriculum; professional curriculum.
Applicants may be interviewed to assess their motivation and clarify aspects of their academic, scientific or professional curriculum.
Applicants who are not from countries where Portuguese is an official language must provide a certificate demonstrating their ability to understand and communicate in Portuguese, both orally and in writing. Applicants who do not meet this requirement may alternatively request an interview (in person or online) to assess their proficiency in the Portuguese language.
