As a unique contribution to this participation, and under the motto ‘Our brand, from local to global!’, UAlg is presenting a bold and innovative proposal: an animated video that combines science, art and intercultural dialogue. Produced by the Fly Moustache studio, a company born out of UALG TEC CAMPUS - UAlg's business accelerator, the video is inspired by Japanese visual aesthetics to create an immersive and visually captivating narrative. This creative approach also reflects UAlg's commitment to education, which includes a degree in Animated Image in its portfolio, reinforcing the link between teaching, research and the creative industry.

The animation draws on traditional elements of Japanese imagery, such as panel composition, decorative patterns or cinematic landscapes, referring directly to anime and manga. This graphic universe serves as a starting point for publicising the Ria Formosa Natural Park and UAlg's research projects, in an approach that unites scientific production with a universal visual language.

By combining innovation, storytelling and Japanese visual culture, the University of the Algarve is proposing a new way of communicating science, bringing laboratories, companies, industry and other audiences together and celebrating the encounter between cultures. The UAlg thus asserts itself as an institution that combines innovation, creativity and knowledge in building the society of the future.

The Pavilion of Portugal, with the motto ‘Ocean: Blue Dialogue’, brings together more than 150 entities - including companies, universities, local authorities, associations and artists - in a collective effort to make the country known to the world.

This world event, which takes place in Japan (Osaka) from 13 April to 13 October, brings together 158 countries under the motto ‘Designing Future Societies for Our Lives’ and is expected to attract around 28 million visitors.

The University of Algarve will be represented by a delegation made up of members of the Communication Office, CRIA - Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer Division, representatives of companies and collaborative laboratories.

UAlg's participation in Expo Osaka is part of an operation led by NERA-Associação Empresarial da Região do Algarve, financed by European Funds, under the SIAC measure of the ALGARVE 2030 Programme, as part of the INTERNACIONALIZAR+ALGARVE 3.0 Project - Promoting the International Recognition of the Algarve Region.
