The European Documentation Centre of the University of Algarve (EDC-UAlg) is a Centre for the dissemination of European Union (EU) documentation and information, created in 1995 through a protocol signed with the European Commission, and is part of the network of Portuguese EDCs.

Its main goal is to support the University in promoting and developing studies and research in European Community matters and promoting dissemination on the policies of the European Union. It has a collection of publications on the European Union that can be borrowed by users.

Every year the EDC organizes several activities related to EU information: lectures, seminars, open courses, exhibitions, book presentations and participates in joint initiatives with other European bodies.

The EDC is located on the ground floor in Gambelas’ Campus Library and has the same opening hours.

The EDC provides periodical or monographic publications, as well as electronic documents, produced by the Publications Office of the European Union and some national and international organizations.

Since 2005, the EU has progressively favored the publication of content in digital format, a more environmentally friendly and agile option for dissemination purposes.
