"Carob: the Algarve's gold" serves as a motto for an online conference to be held on 25 November at 5 pm, with speakers Pedro Correia (UAlg / FCT), Margarida Vieira (UAlg / ISE), Nídia Braz (UAlg / ESS), Carlos Moura (Industrial Farense) and Maria João Cruz (UAlg / UAIC).

Among other aspects, carob trees will be addressed as a characteristic species of the Algarve, of great scenic, ecological and economic interest, as well as carob beans that stand out because the entire bean can be used in a diversity of applications and because of its nutritional characteristics.

Another highlight is the exhibition “Carob: a lifetime of memories”, consisting of photographs by Luísa Melão, which can still be visited at the Library of the University of Algarve, on the Gambelas Campus, until 5 December.

This exhibition, which was developed by the Regional Directorate for Culture of the Algarve in partnership with the Municipal Museum of Faro is supported by the Library of the University of Algarve.

The conference "Carob: the gold of the Algarve" will be broadcast via Zoom colibri at https://videoconf-colibri.zoom.us/j/81793803889.
