Following this distinction, today, November 30th, at 6:00 pm, Lídia Jorge will participate in the session “Thousand Young People with Lídia Jorge”, live from the University of Algarve.
This year's ceremony, due to the circumstances imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, was transformed into a virtual ceremony, so the winner will participate, in what is considered the largest Literary Festival in the World, from UAlg, thus joining to Mexican writer Benito Taibo.
From the University of the Algarve, the Portuguese writer will also participate, on December 4, at 7 pm, in the International Meeting of Short Stories, alongside Guatemalan writer Eduardo Halfon.
The broadcast can be followed live on the UAlg website or via the event website here.
It is recalled that the Guadalajara International Book Fair, the second largest in the world, on the book market - after the Frankfurt fair in Germany - runs from November 28 to December 6, in virtual format. This will be the first time that FIL, founded in 1987 by the University of Guadalajara, does not take place in person at Expo Guadalajara.
This is the fourth time that FIL rewards a writer in Portuguese, after Brazilians Nélida Piñón (1995) and Rubem Fonseca (2003) and Portuguese António Lobo Antunes (2008). Lídia Jorge is the 30th winner, with a prize of 150 thousand dollars (126 thousand euros).
