On 12 November, Huawei Portugal and the University of Algarve (UAlg) formalised a partnership to implement the ICT Academy. This partnership with UAlg will explore the fields of Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence, not only providing solutions for the different needs and requirements of the institution, but also providing new training content, in addition to the certification of teaching staff.

Thus, following the example of partnerships already established in Portugal, with the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança and the Piaget Institute, with the implementation of the ICT Academy programme at the University of the Algarve, Huawei provides multidimensional solutions for different types of talent in the ICT area and levels of needs, in order to ensure that cooperation models respond to the demands of higher education institutions and companies.

At the signing session of the protocol João Rodrigues, pro-rector of the University of Algarve, praised "Huawei's healthy commitment and undertaking in its mission to invest in knowledge and innovation in close connection with academia".

According to Diogo Madeira da Silva, head of Public Affairs & Communications at Huawei Portugal, Huawei's association with the ICT Academy “will provide students and professors at the University of Algarve with progressive learning in the use of the latest technology, endowing them with valuable tools for today's demands, especially to face an increasingly competitive and global job market ”.

Launched in Portugal last July, and integrating Huawei's TECH4ALL programme, the ICT Academy's main objective is to enhance the transfer of knowledge to the various Portuguese universities and bring them closer to the reality of companies and technological innovation, through enrichment training content in the area of Information and Communication Technologies.

And, in order to consolidate this strategy of joining efforts with academia, Huawei created, globally, the ICT Academy Development Incentive Fund, with a total investment of around 50 million dollars to be applied in the next five years.
