Overview
Benign vulvar pathologies are varied and can compromise patients' quality of life. Despite the high prevalence of some of these clinical conditions, the truth is that they are often underdiagnosed or inadequately treated, largely due to a lack of specific knowledge among different health professionals. The continuation and updating of a course dedicated to the study and guidance of these conditions aims to fill a significant gap in medical and multidisciplinary training, promoting better clinical outcomes and widening access for these women to appropriate diagnosis and treatment.

The proper management of this type of pathology often requires a multidisciplinary approach, including dermatologists, gynaecologists, anatomopathologists, among other professionals.

The proposed course will promote this multidisciplinarity, including doctors from different specialities, with the aim of reinforcing the need for this interaction, which is often essential for providing adequate and effective care.

The theoretical-practical courses on Benign Vulvar Pathology have been organised since 2012, with the scientific sponsorship of the SPCPTGI (Portuguese Society of Colposcopy and Pathology of the Lower Genital Tract), and under the coordination of Dr Claúdia Marques and Professor José Alberto Moutinho, now retired. Continuing and updating this course is a necessary response to professional updating and differentiation, improving the care provided and promoting women's health.
