The report on the "Culatra 2030" project was awarded the Fernando Sousa Prize
The report "O Despertar da Ilha", broadcast on Linha da Frente RTP, about the project " Culatra 2030 - Sustainable Energy Community ", coordinated by the University of Algarve, in partnership with the Ilha da Culatra Residents Association, was awarded the Fernando Sousa Prize, which is promoted by the representative European Commission in Portugal.
Written by journalist Duarte Baltazar, Bachelor in Communication Sciences from the Higher School of Education and Communication of the University of Algarve, with the image and editing by João Junça, the report won the prize in the “National Media Category”.
The European Commission highlighted the “explicit and genuine link to a European theme” and the humane and original way in which it approached sustainability.
Remember that Culatra Island is one of the six pilot islands that will receive support from the European Secretariat for clean energy on the islands. The creation of an Energy Transition Agenda on this island of Ria Formosa, in the Algarve, will position the region as a centre of excellence in research and training in renewable energies. It is also intended to create effective bridges between the local community, research in the renewable sector and companies, by promoting environmental sustainability and adapting the island to climate change.
