Lara Noronha Ferreira is professor at the Department of Quantitative Methods of the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism of the University of the Algarve. She has a first degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the University of the Algarve (1997) and a Master in Health Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (2002), where she has also completed her PhD in Economics and Econometric Models by the University of Coimbra (2009). She got her "Agregação" in Economics from the University of Coimbra in 2020. Her research interests include health economics, health econometrics, health related quality of life, well-being, tourism and ageing. She is co-author of various articles published in international and national scientific indexed and referred journals such as Value in Health, The European Journal of Health Economics, Quality of Life Research, Health and Quality of Life Outcomes, Applied Research in Quality of Life, Expert Review of Pharmacoeconomics & Outcomes Research, International Journal of Tourism Policy, among others. She is referee for several international scientific indexed and referred journals. She is also an integrated researcher at the Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being and colaborates with the Centre for Health Studies & Research - University of Coimbra. She is currently involved in several national and international research projects in tourism, health economics and ageing, funded amongst others, by European Union funds, the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, Office of the High Commissioner for Health, Pfizer, Novartis, EuroQol group, Faundação La Caixa. Between 2012 and 2016 she was appointed vice dean of the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism of the University of the Algarve. Between 2015 and 2017 she was elected President of the Portuguese Economic Association. In 2016 she was appointed economic expert for the Health Technology Assessment Committee for the National Authority of Medicines and Health Products (INFARMED). As part of her work as INFARMED expert, she participated in the working group that prepared the Review of Methodological Guidelines for Economic Evaluation Studies for Medicines and other health technologies. Since October 2023 she is President of the Scientific Council of School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism.
