Inês Mansinhos holds a PhD in Biotechnological Sciences (January 2026), specializing in Plant Biotechnology, from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at the University of Algarve, and is a member of the Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development (MED/UAlg). She holds a BSc in Biotechnology from the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra (2014) and an MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Coimbra (2017). Inês has authored over 17 peer-reviewed scientific papers and 6 invited book chapters, and has delivered more than 25 oral and poster presentations at national and international conferences (h-index 10). She also serves as a peer reviewer for multiple international journals, having completed more than 30 reviews, and was invited to serve as Guest Editor of the Special Issue “Environmental and Biotechnological Regulation of Plant Secondary Metabolites” in the journal Plants (MDPI). As of July–August 2025, one of her publications received sufficient citations to rank in the top 1% of the academic field of Plant & Animal Science, according to the highly cited threshold for its field and publication year (Web of Science indicator). Her research focuses on the responses of medicinal and aromatic plants to climate change and sustainable agricultural practices, with particular emphasis on the effects of abiotic and biotic stresses on plant secondary metabolism, especially phenolic compounds and essential oils. She applies biotechnological strategies to modulate secondary metabolism, develops green extraction techniques for bioactive compounds, namely using Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents, and investigates their biological activities and potential industrial applications, including the evaluation of different compounds as stress-alleviating agents and potential elicitors of secondary metabolism.
