CREST main objective falls within the scope of Earth and environmental sciences, covering aspects of the Earth and planetary sciences, namely exploring the adaptation scales of the Earth surface region where land and water meet. The project plans to test and improve the capabilities offered by free available imagery, provided by the Earth Observation System Data, to monitor and assess coastal resilience. In this regard, the project also intends to provide a basis to explore and further understand connectivity across temporal and spatial scales within the coastal complex system. In this line, CREST integrates a number of geoscience disciplines (e.g., geomorphology, oceanography, physical geography, ecology) into a multidisciplinary approach to investigate the coastal zone, where a number of processes (aeolian, marine and ecological) function synergistically to determine the evolution of this fringe of the earth surface.
